for Reflectors…

Reflectors are the rarest type of Human Design profile.

Only about 1% of the population are Reflectors. That means that in any group of 100 people, only one will be a Reflector:

70 will be the Sacrals (Generators & Manifesting Generators)

20 will be Projectors

9 will be Manifestors

If you know a Reflector, you’re fortunate indeed. They are relational, creative, non-intrusive and deep. Their presence can be deeply validating to others, even just by listening. I’ve known a small handful of Reflectors, a few as clients and a few as friends.

Reflectors have no defined energy centers in their Human Design - every energy center in their body-graph is either undefined or completely open (free of hanging gates), so Reflectors have the capacity pick up and amplify every passing frequency. However, unlike Projectors who absorb the energy of others deeply into their being, Reflectors have the capacity to slough that energy right off, remaining detached from the dramas of others, even if they are excitable, impassioned, empathetic and commiserating when they are around others showcasing moods.

In the larger scheme of things, Reflectors are here to play the role of mirroring society and culture: reflecting who & what feels truly aligned and who & what is nothing but a hot mess taking up space and wasting precious air - All so the other design-types can make corrections to how they’re using their own energy.

Reflectors are the calibrators of our collective human existence.

Reflectors have Lunar Authority - which is as deeply romantic as it sounds. Clarity over decisions comes in 28-day Moon cycles, and so Reflectors are advised to wait as long as possible before deciding on something important - wait at least 1-month. Of course, life today doesn’t always accommodate a Reflector’s need for this long waiting time, so they do the best they can and wait as long as they’re able before deciding.

But what is essential for a Reflector’s happiness is being in the right places and around the right people - and by right I mean right for them. Reflectors are happy when they love their friends, love where they live and get to visit places that feel good to them while doing things they love.

For a Reflector, the right environment is everything! They have to love the vibe they live in.

This is the key to Reflector well-being.‍ ‍

Every Human Design type has two emotional themes: one feeling is of the true-self living in alignment with their purpose. The other emotion alerts the person that they are out-of-alignment, that they are not-self.‍ ‍

The emotional theme for Reflectors living in alignment with their purpose is surprise!

This is not the surprise of someone sneaking up behind you or jumping out from a hiding spot (although it could be). This surprise is closer to the stunning joy of unexpected delights!‍ ‍

The not-self theme for Reflectors is disappointment. Disappointment happens for Reflectors when they invest themselves in the wrong people, move to the wrong places, take the wrong jobs, or make expectant choices without having waited long enough for the clarity they need to come through to them. So here are two standard nuggets of wisdom to support Reflector happiness:

1.     Move to a place you love - your body will feel so much better and you’ll meet the right people there.

2.     When making an important decision, write it down in a day-planner, then see if you can wait a full 28 days - a full Lunar cycle - before deciding.

A Human Design Body-Graph for a Reflector type

This little nugget of Reflector-guidance came through to me a few days after my Reflector friend, C, visited my home for the first time.

When C entered my boudoir - my special room that celebrates my love of queer culture & drag queens, a room which has bright pink walls, a leopard print rug, and photos of queer-icons plastered all over the walls - C remarked about how nice it must be to have a place to just freely decorate at will - any wild way you choose.

C’s enthusiasm for my whimsical decor and the self-permission it took me to create it struck me and stayed with me over the next days. C is living with family-members right now, while figuring out their next life-chapter after leaving a disappointing job that burnt them out.

(Reflectors are not designed for work! They are way too rare and valuable just being themselves to waste their lives entangled in the 40-hour grind! The 40-hour work-week was invented by Sacrals for Sacrals alone! and by Manifestors who needed to keep the Sacrals out of their way!)

And while I know C’s home-life is quite good enough for now, I also know there is something much better for C somewhere out there. So when this wisdom-nugget dropped into my lap like a golden egg from a passing gull, I was excited to share it.

Here’s what I told C:

Every time you have a “wouldn’t it be great if…” thought or sentiment or vision, idea or emotion, write it down in your day-planner on that day - or even in a notebook or journal, and date it.

Let that thought or sentiment or vision, idea or emotion sit there in your journal as the days go on - but every time you have another “wouldn’t it be great if…” thought or sentiment or vision, idea or emotion - write that one down too.

Over time you’ll have a collection of these thoughts, sentiments, visions, ideas, and emotions all in one place - so then turn them into a painting, or a poem, or a sketch, a song, or a collage - and leave your newly created art-piece somewhere special - like above your bed or on your dresser, somewhere you can gaze upon it or listen to it on stereo every day for 28-days.

From New Moon to the next New Moon.

That’s all you have to do - because from here life will surprise you!

You don’t have to figure it all out.

You don’t have to figure out how to make all your casual wishes come true. You don’t have to figure out how to afford your dream-apartment when you’re barely affording this week’s groceries + last night’s movie!

You just have to leave a little room for life to surprise you with how it makes your dreams come true - because this is what it’s all about for you, Reflector. This is you ✨
