One of the most transformative forms of magick is play.

I rekindled play in my life after I fell in love with the tv show RuPaul’s Drag Race and set about reinventing myself as a drag queen, Cartier the Queen.

Cartier the Queen performs shamanic lip-sync numbers to popular songs at local night clubs. (Her numbers are “shamanic” because she always enchants the stage before stepping through the curtain).

Cartier the Queen is the embodiment of glamour magick which is a form of magickal craft originating in Avalon. Originally, the word “glamour” meant “spell” and “illusion”. Glamour magick is a craft of making illusion come to life through costuming, make-up and character play.
